5 Important Things to Bring to Raising Change!
Group Discounts
If your organization is bringing a group of 5 or more people, we are offering discounts of 25-50% off the regular registration fee. For more information about group discounts, please email conference08[at]grassrootsfundraising[dot]org.
Scholarships
The deadline for scholarships was May 31, 2008 . We are no longer accepting applications. All applicants will be notified by June 13. Applicants who do not receive a scholarship will still be able to register for the early bird rate of $150.
If you sent in an application and have not heard from us by June 13, please email Priscilla[at]grassrootsfundraising[dot]org.
Need Financial Assistance?
Here are some tips to help you get the funds you need to attend Raising Change:
1. Ask your organization or your board to cover it. The amount of fundraising training that you will get from the conference is well worth the investment! $200 for 4 meals, 4 workshops, 6 issues of the Grassroots Fundraising Journal , discussions on strategy, new contacts, and renewed energy and inspiration is a great deal.
If you are coming from outside the Bay Area, build in meetings with other organizations, donors, and funders to make the most out of your time here.
2. Fundraise for it. For some fundraising ideas, check out the Grassroots Fundraising Journal article “ 8 Ways to Raise $2500 (or more) in 10 Days (or less, sometimes) ” (link to http://grassrootsfundraising.org/raising_change/WaysRaise2500in10Days.pdf .) You can also ask folks to donate frequent flier miles or hotel points in lieu of cash.
3. Approach one of your funders or major donors and see if they have extra funds to put toward this. Many foundations have discretionary, travel, emergency, capacity-building, or special opportunity funds. If your funder doesn't have a special fund, work together with fellow grantees and request funds as a group.
4. Pay for it out of pocket. Try discount airline providers to find the cheapest flight. Check both San Francisco and Oakland airports. Arrange to stay with a friend. Public transit is affordable and accessible here so you don't need to stay right near the conference site. We also have some discounted rooms on hold and have contact info on our site for a hostel – rooms are much cheaper if you share with others. Stay a few extra days in the Bay Area to make a vacation out of it to get your money's worth!
Cancellations
All registrations are final and there are no refunds. However, registration is transferable. If you find that you need to cancel, you can find someone else to take your place. Please submit all transfer requests to conference08 [at]grassrootsfundraising[dot]org by June 30, and include your name and the name of the person who will be attending in your place. If you have a last-minute emergency and need to transfer your registration after the deadline, please email conference08[at]grassrootsfundraising[dot]org as soon as possible.
